Have been to Thanjai mess a few times as a group of 6-8 folks and we love it. Great place to visit if you are craving some south Indian delicacies. Dosa fans will be impressed with the variety of dosas they have. We have tried everything from thattu idli, dragon dosa, pongal, paniyaram, kari dosa, Malabar parotta to their biryani. Everything is top notch. Only thing is that the wait times for some of the dishes can be much longer than others. Their filter coffee, badam milk and rose milk are also very good. All in all a true taste of the south for sure.
I am from the UK and recently visited my friends in New Jersey. Some other friends joined us from Dubai, and we all met after a long time. We wanted to eat Indian food, and someone recommended a place to us. Initially, we were a bit hesitant about the ambiance of the restaurant since it had just opened. However, the food was amazing! We ordered a variety of dishes, and everything was top-class. The customer service was excellent. You must try the fish fry and fish curry with paratha. We also had mutton shank with biryani, and their lamb soup with extra pepper is a must-try as well. I hope to visit this place again next time. No regrets, it was worth the money.
This restaurant is a must place for non vegetarian food .We initially came here while searching for Nool parotta . This place has taken us back to authentic Tamil Nadu food . We ordered Nool parotta , Bun parotta , Mutton Brain fry , Nalli masala and Briyani . Every single dish was very tasty . The staff and store manager - Zubair were very kind and courteous . From then on we are regulars since they opened a new place recently . Looking forward for more banana leaf feasts during summer . By far the closest place to taste like hometown .
I felt like I was back home in Tamil Nadu, having breakfast right after I landed there. Excellent work. The idea of early morning breakfast service is appreciated, nothing like this available in mid Jersey area. Pongal, Vadai, Poori Masala and Podi Dosa. To top it all is Filter Dawara Coffee. Sheikh is very friendly and his hospitality makes it an additional treat. We went again this week with my kids and they loved it too, the #idli, #ghee dosai and my favorite #pongal (I requested it to have additional pepper) and it was awesome.
My Family & I had a wonderful Experience Dining in this restaurant “THANJAI MESS” last night. It’s full of flavors, from curries, spices and even eccentric pairing of flavors. Food was fresh, Aroma was appealing & Highly pleasant to taste. Ambiance was perfect & The staff was Incredibly welcoming, Interactive and helpful. My Kids loved being there, My young one eats nothing except fries But she enjoyed having chicken noodles. As a mother I could not be happier than seeing my kids enjoying the food on Mother’s Day night out. Hats off chef. Apart from that we ordered Mutton Biriyani, Lollipop Chicken etc. which was really appetizing. I’ll surely recommend this place to all.
My sisters and I came for dinner. We had: Dragon dosa, goat biryani, chai, Matar Paneer and Veg korma The food was incredible, very authentic South Indian style. Prices are reasonable. The girl who served our table was very attentive. We will definitely be back.
We looked for a South Indian restaurant near the movie theater and came across one with great reviews and an enticing menu. Deciding to give it a try, we stopped for dinner—and it did not disappoint! Each of us found our favorites, but the standout was the bun porotta, a dish we had only heard about in the movie Hridayam and never had the chance to taste before. If we had to sum up our experience in one phrase, it would be: "very yummy and tasty food" in a warm, home-like atmosphere. Thank you for the wonderful meal—we will definitely be back!
