This is in an upscale market and genuinely has the best Indian food in the area. We’ve had the samosas several times and they’re the best I’ve had south of Round Rock. It is reasonably priced with generous portions and genuinely tasty without overpowering you with heat. They’re not afraid to use spice unlike some places nearby. Far better than wasting money on sit down restaurants in the area.
Unexpected, but trust me, try a burger. The absolute best burger I have had in Austin, and comes with seasoned fries, for $10.00. Warning though, you have to like spicy...if you don't, I am sure they can leave off the spice and heat, if you ask. They are taking away the tacos, and adding 20 more Indian food items. No place to sit...take out. Nice store though too, with lots of good wine choices, and a nice selection of salsas, interesting shelf items and such, including pet food. Really nice people running the establishment too! Just go; you won't regret it!
Excellent Dosa, Chicken 65, Korma and chutneys. They made the food fresh, and the portions are large. The store has a lot to offer as well. Very good experience.
Inside of a corner store, Ras serves delicious Indian-Recipe tacos including #10 the Baida Keema which was so rich and so savory. I am still drinking the chai latte they serve. It's a $5 taco, but it was big and hearty and healthy. Usually I go to Freebirds when I am in this corner of town, but Ras is an instant favorite. They also have classic breakfast tacos, but the Indian-inspired ones too delicious. No where to sit and eat, but there is a standing counter by the front window where I watched traffic while eating. The taco came out really hot with two sauces, both of which were good. I would not consider either one 'spicy' but they were packed with flavor. I'm coming back for sure!
Fast. Good food. Ordered Tikki Bowl with Chicken and a garlic naan to go. $20. (There is no place to eat in. Not even a bench to sit while you wait.) It was ready in about 5 minutes. Chicken was cooked perfectly - fell into bite-sized chunks with only my fork. Tikki sauce was yummy and spicy. (Fine for any Texan, but Midwesterners will complain.) Not much rice - it got swamped by the large portion of sauce. Naan was a little damp, probably from steam trapped in the foil. It’s expensive take-out only. Some parts easily worth the price, but could use some polishing.
Oh my heavens this place has no business being this good. We had a little of everything: burger, pakora, samosa, butter chicken, naan, chicken 65. Highly recommend! Can’t wait to try the whole menu.
We’ve been here 3x in the last 3 weeks. Delicious and flavorful. Tikka masala is made with all white breast meat. $10 for the masala + rice + plain naan. Always add a garlic naan or two.
