Team building exercise meeting was decided upon the last minute and Neelam's was able to accommodate us. The food and and flavors were outstanding. The service was superb. Stopped in for a quick lunch and still delicious (9-23-24 updated)
Our visit to Neelam, the desi restaurant, was an absolute delight. It's one of the oldest and best Indian resturant in NJ.The food was truly exceptional, with standout dishes like appetizer platter, chicken dum biryani, chicken soup and mutton bhuna masala, and perfectly cooked naans leaving our taste buds in pure bliss. The restaurant's welcoming ambiance added to the festive atmosphere, making it a memorable evening for all of us. A special shoutout to our server, Anthony l,Aarif and the Owner Kunal whose outstanding service and friendly demeanor added a personal touch to our experience. Neelam not only serves delicious and authentic Indian cuisine but also boasts an incredible team that ensures every visit is a memorable one.You should definitely come and try this place whenever you are craving high end service and food! Highly recommended for any occasion!
This is an amazing little place. When I went I, I was skeptical of the quality and seating. Once I started to talk to the people, then I came to know how good and accomodative they are. We went ahead and placed our order. The prices are a mix. The price of some items is more than other restaurants, but some or less. So it balances out. But where this restaurant edges, a lot of others are in quality of food, service they provide. Tried a lot of veg items, and the taste is amazing. Kids initially did not want to try, but once they did, they really liked it, and we had to place an order for additional dishes. If you are a total vegetarian like me, who does not even eat eggs or items made with eggs, then you need to let them know, as they use the same oil to fry fish, chicken and veg pakodas. Once we told them we were veg, which is the first thing i do, the restaurant guys were very honest in letting me know, which I appreciated. So technically, which is deep fried. But the rest of the dishes are all ok and tasted amazingly. But the most important part is the people who work there. They are extremely good. I have given 4 stars for the environment because the seating space/table is a little tight for 4. But this is a little hidden cameo that everyone must visit.
I stopped in at Neelam Indian Cuisine today to try their lunch buffet. I’ve only tried chicken tikka masala at other restaurants and liked it, so I wanted to try little amounts of assorted Indian dishes. I was on the late side for lunch and they were running low on some of their selections, so they went to the kitchen and came back with so many extra containers for me, so I could try all of their buffet dishes. So much food! This restaurant is by far the best tasting Indian food with incredible customer service and a pretty decor. I absolutely loved all of their dishes, so tasty! I’ll definitely go back soon. 5 STARS!!!
I traveled in to meet friends who live in the area. This is a simple place in a strip mall...but it was recently redecorated and is quite charming. The food was excellent and really thoughtfully prepared. This isn't your standard take out although you will find butter chicken and all the guilty pleasures... We found the okra and other vegetarian dishes to be excellent ...the flavors of spices were distinct and not muddy or too heavy. Our server was so kind and when he found out my friends and I had known each other for 30 years and don't get to see each other in person often he made it a point to let us know to take all the time we needed and we didn't have to leave until closing ...this meant we could really talk even though the meal was long done. I have traveled in India and I really appreciated this meal. For a little place in a little town in New Jersey they are making excellent food worth your patronage.
I catered food for my Eid brunch, and trust me when I say this—EVERYONE at my party couldn’t stop raving about how fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced everything was! The catering service was exceptional, with the entire order packed so neatly that there was no mess or leakage during transit. Hands down, the BEST halal restaurant in the area! And their Daal Makhni? Absolutely out of this world! If you haven’t tried this hidden gem yet, you’re seriously missing out!
On my way home I started craving Indian comfort food so I searched what was open nearby and found Neelam, I must add I went without expectations! Place, food and service so good. I’ll definitely return!
