Best meal ever! Seriously! So good. I ordered way too much food and it was all good. Ate from the Indian side of the menu, but the Ethiopian fishes sounded delicious too. Do yourself a favor and go enjoy this place! Prices very reasonable and food is amazing!
After a long hiatus (mostly due to getting parked/around that area when students are back at UC), 4 of us revisited Elephant Walk last Friday for dinner. We were THRILLED that we returned. We all ordered from the Ethiopian menu and the food was incredible. Fresh, flavorful, interesting, budget friendly & crave worthy (photo is vegetarian combo platter & mushroom appetizer). Two of us ordered the $5 spicy tamarind margarita & loved that too. 100% will be back & highly recommend. I am sure the N. Indian menu is delicious too but having solid Ethiopian food in this area is not typical. 4 star for atmosphere because the music (pop, odd) & lighting need lil help. GO!
Had a late lunch and everything was fantastic. They didn't have mango lassi even though it was one the menu and the Opera cake was a bit stale. The naan was some of the best we have had. The Samosa Chat was delicious and I loved how the toppings were sauced. I enjoyed the Ethiopian vegetarian platter - especially the cabbage/carrot dish.
I love this place, it's my favorite for Ethiopian and Indian. However, the hours don't make sense. I've never had an issue with placing a take out order after my classes at 3 but recently when I've tried to call no one picked up and when I went in person I was told they were closed but the hours posted don't reflect that at all.
The mistake I made here was not being in a position to use leftovers (was leaving town and had no way to keep cold or heat up) the vegetarian combo platter was delicious, with many different components to try with the injeera. Was for sure enough to feed 2 people. It was very quiet when we went and had the place to ourselves but I would attribute that to time of year and day than anything else. Very good value for the money.
Quiet atmosphere and quick service on food. Great selection of Ethiopian and Indian dishes. I've come here many times and I've never had to wait long for a table and I've always felt like I had something new to try!!!
Update 2023: Still delicious. This time they told us the spice level was out of 10. Menu still says 6. I got 5, I'm not sure if that was 5/10 or 5/6. My girlfriend for 2/? and it was perfect, a friend with us got 3/? and it was a bit spicy for his taste but otherwise he was also super impressed. Always delicious, always. (A few years ago) I had lunch here yesterday. The food was amazing, I had the Ethiopian Veggie Platter. All of the veggie dishes on the Ethiopian side of the menu are vegan which was very welcomed. I got 4/6 on the heat scale it was perfect for me. My girlfriend got 3/6 chicken saag, it was a bit too hot for her, however she powered through as best she could because it was so delicious. The sambussas on the Ethiopian side of the menu were the real star of the show, we were both amazed by how flavourful they are.
