My husband and I had delivery, we tried a wide range of dishes. I’m very excited about this new restaurant and I want to encourage everyone to give it a try! These are dishes that I grew up on and it’s so nice to see these well priced and tasty dishes brought to the Westwood area. Broaden your palette and check out a lot of veggie options to delight you! The Naan, dar, dosa, and chicken masala were terrific! Welcome to the neighborhood Tulsi! 😁
Edit: The menu has changed recently with a lot of Indian regional foods eliminated from it and meat teams added (it is no longer a vegetarian restaurant). Make sure that you check the updated menu before visiting. Tulsi is an Indian restaurant located very close to UCLA. There is plenty of seating available inside the restaurant. We did not see any outdoor seating. There is street parking near the restaurant. The restaurant was clean and had a great vibe! The seating was comfortable. You order food and pay upfront at the cashier and are given a device the vibrates when the food is ready to be picked up. The staff was busy yet very patient and pleasant! Had the 3 curry plate, Manchuria and samosa chaat and all of them hit the right spots! The food was delivered by a robot that they had in restaurant. It was fun to watch the robot navigate! They also have food specials on Indian festivals so look out for those!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Tulsi Indian Eatery, and I must say it was a truly remarkable experience. The highlight of my visit was their fascinating cat robot-like server that effortlessly glided across the restaurant, bringing dishes to each table. It was a delightful blend of technology and tradition, adding an element of fun and uniqueness to the dining experience. The ambience of the restaurant was equally impressive, with well-lit interiors creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The attentive and friendly staff further enhanced the overall dining experience. Tulsi Indian Eatery is a gem of a restaurant, seamlessly combining innovation, culinary excellence, and a pleasant ambiance. I highly recommend visiting this establishment for a truly memorable dining experience. It deserves every bit of its five-star rating!
We are regulars at Tulsi Westwood - which is a short 2 min walk away from the kids apartment. For a chain Indian place the dosa here is GREAT. Hit and miss experience at the one in Westwood and DTLA .. but 5 stars for when they hit it!! Taste is great as with the condiments and price is reasonable. Mary the manager at Westwood Tulsi is so amiable and provides great service and leadership to her staff. Times it’s gone wrong - 1. when it’s busy because dosa making is a task that has a time window. So NOT for very large groups especially at DTLA location. But Westwood location can handle 2-3 dosa at a time. One time dosa was thick and NOT thin and crispy .. but credit to manager .. they kept making them until they got it right … likely batter issue on that day.. for me that attention to customer service deserves 5 stars. Apart from that one time dosa is consistently SPOT on .. never fails to please - or they will redo it.. If you haven’t had South Indian food before this is a Superb eatery in Westwood / WLA to get initiated. My recommendation to the uninitiated is the Butter Masala Dosa … for $11 and $3 lassi to wash it down. My only other feedback to the owners is to open at 10:00 am so South Indians can come for a delicious savory breakfast / brunch …
Truly a 5 star vegetarian clean food option so close to UCLA! I come from the Bay Area and I would rate Tulsi as the number 1 amongst the Veg restaurants, hands down. Thali, with a twist, you could do an a la carte’ thali with number of great options to choose from. We tried the 3 curry thali, daal, rice, garlic naan which was amazing in taste. Their dahi puri was probably nothing else I’ve ever tried. North Indian, Gujrati, South Indian and indo Chinese options to choose from in the menu, makes it an amazing spot for lunch, dinner or brunch! The taste is definitely next level and you wouldn’t smell the old oil in their food, that unfortunately has become a very common practice these days. Their masala chai closed the deal for me. Prices are seriously reasonable and almost the pre-pandemic level, which again, unfortunately most other Indian places are taking full advantage of, whether or not they deserve to command that kind of premium. All in all, if you are near Westwood/UCLA, do not miss this place for anything else. You won’t repent. I just wish they would come to Bay Area!!!
Surprisingly good food for such a diverse menu and quite fast service. Dosa and sambar were solid, all curries were delicious with nicely cooked naan, pickles were clearly made in-house and tasty. Very reasonably priced and large servings.
The best Indian food in LA at reasonable prices. Perfectly balanced menu from across India. Good quantity. Cooked fresh. Balanced spice level. What else you can ask for? And, cherry on top, cleanest washrooms you'll ever find in a restaurant. This will be my go to place for any future trip to LA.
