My trips to LA are never complete without several visits here! All vegetarian courses. So tasty and well made. I sorely miss this place when I'm not here! It has a great grocery area, too for Indian spices and ingredients. I always bring containers of spices home with me!
I love combo dish and super sweet Indian sweets. I wish if they have more explanation but I guess it’s a part of mystery fun of ethnic store.
One of my favorite places to go for an Indian Meal or for chai and Indian snacks. They also have an attached store to buy Indian groceries! Very colorfully decorated with a nice atmosphere!
This is an awesome vegetarian Indian restaurant and grocery store combo. It’s a fantastic spot for both sit-down dining and takeout, offering a casual yet flavorful experience that caters to a variety of preferences. The setup for sit-down dining is straightforward: you order at the counter, pay, and they deliver your food to your table. This system works smoothly, and the indoor seating is ample, with a laid-back vibe that’s perfect for a relaxed meal. They offer both a buffet (where the staff serves you) and an à la carte menu, giving you flexibility depending on your mood. The buffet is a great way to sample a variety of dishes, and I appreciated how fresh everything tastes. However, the real standout for me was their Bombay street food—dishes like samosa chaat and pani puri were bursting with authentic flavors, perfectly spiced, and easily the best part of the menu. The South Indian options, like dosas, were decent but didn’t quite match the street food’s wow factor. For takeout, Samosa House is an awesome option. Their 32 oz. containers of curry are probably the best value you’ll find in LA—I’ve seen restaurants charge at least double that. The curries I tried, like the jackfruit and matar paneer, were flavorful with a good level of spiciness, and the large containers ensured I had leftovers for days. It’s a practical option for anyone looking to enjoy restaurant-quality Indian food at home without breaking the bank. The attached Bharat Bazaar grocery store is a huge bonus, offering a wide selection of Indian spices, lentils, and specialty items. It’s one of the largest ethnic stores in LA, and I loved browsing for ingredients like curry pastes and chutneys to take home. The store and dining area are both clean and well-maintained, adding to the overall positive experience. Overall, Samosa House is a fantastic spot for vegetarian Indian cuisine, whether you’re dining in or grabbing takeout. The Bombay street food steals the show, and the value for takeout is unmatched in LA.
I love their samosas and when I had casual charades parties would order a bunch ahead of time. When I eat there I usually get a samosa and a 'plate'. The plate includes; Naan, rice and many good vegetarian dish options to choose from. I like jackfruit (other people in my group don't particularly love it though - but, well I'm obsessed with it's meaty texture and rich sour flavor) then an Indian cheese (paneer) in a sauce (a curry or purriad spinich). The store there is great! Cookies, beans, spices - facinating and they have good prices it seems. I rarely eat there, but one may. One picks one's food at the counter - so you can see and point to what looks good. I love the pretty and generally sweet desserts. (My favorite are brown balls (golf ball size) in a sugar syrup. Now all you need to decide is if you want a chai or a mango-yogert (lassie?) To drink (I'm team chai), white or brown rice , garlic or plain Naan/ a puffy tortilla shaped lovely concoction, and to choose how many samosas you want:) and green or red sauce to go with them (both!) I prefer the green. The times i went the parking was easy and available.
This place is legit. How do I know? No sooner had I sat down with my food than a bus full of Indian tourists rolled up and unloaded – and they looked happy to be there. So was I. I’ve eaten at this Samosa House twice now and it was excellent each time. The combo plates I got let me try a few of their delicious and varied offerings, but the jackfruit and tofu curry really stood out. You can’t eat at Samosa House without ordering a samosa. They’re nice, dense little things made to order. But the pakora also caught my eye, so I ordered the combo – that’ll be the go-to from now on. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. Everyone is smiling and seems happy you’re there. samosa House isn’t super cheap, but portions are generous, everything is delicious, and the atmosphere feels like a quick trip out of LA. I will most definitely go back.
Extremely impressed by the food here! They easily have one of the best samosas and chat in LA. Plus, they have a very versatile selection for south East Asian food. They have almost everything you need for Diwali ranging from diyas to decorations. They also have mehendi, Tika, bangles. 10/10!!
