Saffron Indian Bistro Norfolk

My girlfriend and I went to Saffron for a Valentine’s Day dinner, and they had a $70 dinner for two! It was a pick two of every part of the menu (appetizers, drinks, entree, bread, and dessert), which honestly $70 was a really good deal considering that we have about a meal and a half left in leftovers. We had the Veg Samosa and Tikki Chole** for appetizers, Goan Curry** (with chicken) and Chana Masala for entrees, garlic naan** for bread, kheer and Mango Kulfi** for desserts, and a Mai Tai and Blackberry Margarita** for drinks (** indicates the one we preferred, often by a long shot). Their chicken in the goan curry was especially good—it melted in our mouths and was very flavorful with the curry. They also have really good rice—according to the menu it’s steamed aged white basmati rice. Only reason I gave service 4/5 instead of 5/5 is that they had three guys handling the whole front of house which you could tell was just barely enough when more diners starting showing up—but they were all really nice and responsive if you asked for something. Definitely will not forget to consider Saffron for next year’s Valentine’s Day!

I absolutely loved this place! It was my first time dining here and I must say that I am very impressed with the experience. Walking in, I was impressed with the decor and just how calm the atmosphere was. We were immediately greeted by a very polite man who sat us at a table immediately. We were then served with drinks and he took our order. Since this was my first time trying a restaurant such as this, he explained and helped to understand any questions that I had regarding the dishes available. They have a great lunch menu that is reasonably priced! Now to the food! I absolutely loved every dish that I tried! At the table, we had chicken biryani, lamb biryani, lamb kabobs, curry chicken with rice, and butter naan. I ordered the lowest level of spiciness And the food was delicious! The spices weren't too dramatic but just right. I loved the sauces that were provided with each, especially the yogurt-based sauce that helps with easing the spiciness. You also receive good portion sizes for a reasonable price! I'd definitely love to dine here again, and I do plan on revisiting this location! The server was so attentive and made sure that we were satisfied and had all that we needed. I highly recommend dining here!

Being that we visit on a Monday evening, there were not many customers which was nice. It was not a loud and busy environment. The food was delicious. Cleared the sinuses for sure. We will be returning.

My wife and I have been going here for a couple years and Saffron never disappoints. The food is exemplary, we've had many of the options on that menu and we have yet to be disappointed. Some standouts are the Paneer Chili, Tandoori Wings, Vindaloo, Biryani and Saffron Kebab. The service is excellent, we enjoy everyone there and have never had an unpleasant experience. The pricing is very reasonable, and we love the atmosphere.

I've grown to love Indian food over the years, and this place is no exception. Everything I ordered was fantastic, but if anything stood out it was the seafood soup. The soup's base reminds me, a lot, of New England-style clam chowder, and being born and raised in New England I love a well-executed seafood soup. If you come here for nothing else: come eat here for the seafood soup!

Amazing staff that is very kind and respectful! The food was delicious and spicy. I got chicken Biryani and my wife got the Chicken regional dish. Both were great and we will definitely be back! Go try this out!
