We usually visit this place once in a while for some authentic south Indian food. Especially during Diwali they have some special dishes for a limited time. I haven't tried everything but so far the food is good. We usually order the Thali, the plate comes with multiple things. I can't remember the names of all of them. Some of the plates are very spicy, it was delicious when mixed with rice. Sometimes I wish it could have more rice and free refills.
Hidden Gem Alert: Anjappar Chettinad Indian Restaurant in the OC!! This spot is an absolute treasure! Specializing in authentic Southern Indian cuisine, including Chettinad specialties, this restaurant delivers a feast for the senses. The food was absolutely delectable—flavorsome, aromatic, and perfectly spiced. From the vibrant presentation to the exceptional quality, every bite was a delight!! Our personal favorites (and definite must-tries) include the 65 Chicken, Chicken Lollipops, and the rich, flavorful Chicken Tikka Masala. They also have Indian beer available. We tried: 65 Style Chicken Chicken Lollipops Masala Dosa Goat Biriyani Chicken Tikka Masala Chettinad Chicken We had such a lovely time exploring the bold and vibrant flavors of South India. If you’re in the Tustin area, don’t miss out on this amazing dining experience! Perfect for gatherings with friends and family!! Prudhvi, Prawin and Gabriel had wonderful customer service!! Parking may be difficult during peak hours on the weekend.
This was a total last-minute move—me and my friend just randomly walked into this place, hoping for the best. Since it was a weekday, the restaurant was pretty chill, and the food showed up faster than my weekend motivation. We kicked things off with the chicken lollipop—super tasty, juicy inside, crispy outside. Basically, it had its life together. Only downside? A bit oily… like it was moisturized but too enthusiastic about it. Then came the “spicy” fried rice… except it forgot the “spicy” part and just showed up mild and confused. Still decent, just not the kick we expected. Overall, not bad at all. I’d definitely come back—next time during lunch so I can try more stuff (and maybe warn the fried rice to bring the heat).
Tried calling multiple times from 6.30 to do table reservations. Did finally get thr and reached.our party was 8 folks and food was good and they took great care of us.staff friendly and goodlocation. happy customer from Seattle.
Craving authentic Chettinad South Indian flavors?? Then you don’t need to travel all the way to Artesia. Because this local gem, located right here in Tustin Orange County has it all. They have appeared multiple years in the OC Register for top places to eat for signature dishes, affordable prices, and best south Indian Chettinad dishes, AND for all the right reasons. We tried their Chicken garlic kebab, Cheese Dosa, Karahi Chicken and authentic South Indian Chettinad Vegetable Kurma and finally some Kulfi to polish it all off. They prepare the food to your spice level so everyone can enjoy. Easy free parking and welcoming staff. Would definitely be going back for more.
We went for a birthday treat on a weekday. It was not crowded, but there are still lots of pickups. The menu is online and able to choose it quickly. The food tastes really good. It is spicy, but that how Indian dishes should be. It is a good experience and we will go again.
Ordered to go Chicken lollipop, Garlic Pepper Chicken. Excellent taste. Chicken was soft and melts in mouth. The appetizers come with sauces which compliment the taste of the appetizers. Anyone from Hyderabad would love these appetizers.
