A staple for Indian food in the KC area. I've been for dinner many times and finally decided to try the lunch buffet. I think it was $23 per person. Totally worth it to be able to try so many new dishes. My favorite, as always, was the Chicken Tikka Masala. Tried the warm coconut soup with the gulab jamun and wow, so good! Make sure to get a cup of chai tea to wash it all down. Service was efficient but not overbearing. The atmosphere is elevated but not pretentious. Highly recommended!
Swagat is Indian term for “welcome” and I felt welcomed upon walking in the door for lunch in the middle of the week. I’ve never given authentic Indian food a real go and I was feeling a little adventurous when I saw the sign while exiting the highway. The rich smells of herbs and spices grab you as you enter inside and I felt excited to see what was in store. As we were immediately seated, we passed by the vivid multicolored buffet and I felt excited pretty quickly. I was able to sample each thing on the buffet, and I found value and quality in almost each one. The meats were tender and flavorful, the sauces were light and complimentary to the food selections. Fried choices were crispy and delicious but didn’t weigh down my appetite. I found this to be a great way to get your veggies in, as I was just as excited to eat those as the meat selections. The fruit available was fresh, the coconut soup was delightful. I would also be remiss not to mention the rice pudding, which was great. I find it necessary to mention that all walks of life were there during the day; suit and tied gentlemen, folks in casual wear, even the FedEx guy was there on his lunch break. I believe this to be a testament to its quality because food is the great equalizer. Our service was thorough and prompt. Above average pricing for the lunch buffet, but the value was extremely apparent. I would definitely return here, I need some more of that fresh naan bread in my life.
Always love this place. One of my fav for indian food. Never have had a chance to do the buffet, i never know what time to go in. But one day I'll make it lol. Definitely a must try if you've never been. Staff is always super helpful and respectful, and they're always really nice to my kiddo while we wait for our carry out.
After trying this place, you will understand why Indian food has such a strong hold on the culinary world. This place I've heard of for quite a long time and I finally was able to come dine here. As soon as you walk in the place, it smells of amazing spices and dishes you're just waiting to try. With a very quaint atmosphere and a helpful staff, they can guide you to exactly what you want to eat. The dish of the night was Lamb Curry with a side of Naan, and it was everything I had hoped for
The $23 daily lunch buffet is mind blowing, everything on it from the curries, chutneys, and salad dressing were good. I was most impressed with their homemade paneer curry, the cheese was the most tender protein on the buffet. I learned from my sis to put curry on top of salad in place of rice! The desserts esp the coconut soup were amazing. It’s fun to walk around afterwards and shop the area.
Tonight we had dinner with our vendor who was in from India. He said that the food is the closest to what he gets at home that he has had in his last 10 years of travel to the states! What a great evening! Our waiter was so wonderful! He made sure that we had everything we needed and constantly checked on us! He was also so much fun! Make sure you get dessert even if you are beyond stuffed! The rice pudding and the doughnuts that are in a yummy syrup are the two best items for dessert!!! WOW!!!! The atmosphere is also very beautiful and inviting! Seating is very comfortable and the area we were seated in allowed for the 5 of us to be able to have a conversation where we could hear each other talk. Next time we are all in KC, we will be back to enjoy your restaurant!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
This was my first time visiting Swagat. The food was delicious! Enjoyed the many options! I will come back!
