A Hidden Gem for Indian Cuisine with Unmatched Care and Expertise Mayuri Indian Restaurant has become my go-to spot for the *healthiest* and most flavorful Indian dishes. They have the lowest price in Memphis with the highest quality in the healthy composition of their dishes. What sets this place apart is the owners' dedication to accommodating dietary preferences without compromising taste. As someone who follows a vegan diet—not vegetarian but strictly vegan—I was thrilled by their willingness to adapt their menu to meet my needs. Initially, they were unfamiliar with vegan-style preparation, but after explaining that it meant no dairy or animal-based ingredients, they went above and beyond to create dishes that were both authentic and plant-based. After October 2023, following a 30-day fast, I broke my fast with their Thali dish at Riverdale Park. It was a memorable experience, one that I shared in a widely viewed YouTube video. The owner’s generosity stood out when he added extra Channa Masala to my order, saying with a smile, "I know you like Channa Masala." Instead of Naan, he suggested Pooris, and I trusted his judgment—it was the perfect choice. Over time, I became something of a "guinea pig" for their innovative preparations. The owner surprised me with coconut curries and other creative modifications, each of which was a 10/10 in taste, texture, and health consciousness. Their commitment to tailoring dishes for health-minded customers like me is truly commendable. I was thrilled to see the buffet reintroduced in January 2024, a tradition that first brought me to Mayuri in 2012. After a hiatus in 2020, it’s wonderful to see the buffet back in action, offering a range of options like Idly, Poori, Naan, Dosa, Channa Masala, Spinach Dal Curry, Sambar, and either spinach or onion pakoras, along with other vegan and vegetarian-friendly dishes. The buffet is available on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 AM to 2:30 PM, and it’s perfect for trying a variety of dishes. Pro Tip: Come hungry, but pace yourself! Small portions eaten slowly—starting with vegetables and chutneys, followed by proteins, and finishing with carbs—can make the experience even more enjoyable. The consistency of the food is remarkable, thanks to the chefs' 40+ years of experience. While the dishes are best enjoyed fresh at the restaurant, their to-go options hold up surprisingly well for up to two hours—something I’ve tested on busy days. Whether dining in or ordering out, the quality and attention to detail are always evident. Mayuri Indian Restaurant offers a special combination of health-conscious preparation and authentic flavors that makes it a standout destination. From the buffet to the à la carte menu, every bite reflects the care and expertise of their team. If you’re in the area, I can’t recommend this place enough!
FOOD I tried Mysore masala dosa and uttaapam. Both were delicious. Loved the sambhar, thick and properly mixed with spices of India. The star of the day was chuttnies. All of their three chuttnies were delicious. SERVICE They are customer-centric. Love how they welcome you ATMOSPHERE Calm, and clean. Must visit
Some restaurants are to visited only for certain items, this might be one of the restaurants where you go only for the lunch thali. The mutter paneer is absolutely the best. The naan is ofcourse not healthy with so much maida (all purpose flour) but the texture is amazing. The chole as a side dish is amazing. Kheer (Sweet Dish) is okayish.
A gem in middle of Memphis. We were on our road trip and we were in search of something special from Indian cuisine. And Bingo !!!! Delicious south Indian delicacy along with North Indian curries. So so reasonable charges with Large portions. The owners and staffs were extra ordinary and so friendly. This will be my must visit restaurant when ever I am in Memphis. Guys give it a try. Dont miss it. To the Management and staff : Great job and Keep it up
The customer service and biryani is too good!
We got there as soon as they opened on a Saturday night, we were the only ones in the restaurant. The service was excellent. I originally ordered the ginger lamb and the owner let me know that it was kind of spicy. So I asked him what lamb dish he would recommend that wasn't too spicy. He suggested the lamb curry. It was absolutely delicious. The lamb was very tender and the sauce was perfect. My companion had the chicken Tiki kabob, the chicken was also very tender and the sauce was delicious. The vegetable samosas were flaky and delicious as well. We loved the garlic naan bread and papadam that was served with the meal, as well as the variety of sauces included with our entree. You get a lot of food for your money and all of it was very tasty. This is a 45 minute drive for me but I will definitely be back soon.
Ordered takeout and the meal was great. Huge portion and great flavor. Value was also good.
