All around great underground Indian restaurant! People complain about the way the interior looks, but that doesnβt matter when the food is phenomenal. The server was polite, friendly, and showed consideration when taking my order. The food came out quick and fresh. Overall, I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quality Indian restaurant.
Visiting Albany, this happened to be around the corner. Showed up about a half hour before closing, wanted to make sure I wasn't too late, out of respect. Staff didn't give clear answer, but took my order. Item I ordered said lamb and goat, but then they asked me which one I wanted. Menu needs "or" put in, as it indicated both. Receipt doesn't say what I ordered, but I believe it was a lamb/goat tandoori. Much more spicy than I expected, but I love spice, so it was good! Ate it in a drunken haze around 3am, but it was delicious. Most things are at that point, but I was aware how flavorful it was, and even the Naan was great. Saved a little for morning, and glad I did. Out of all the places I tried in Albany, this one one of the best. Would return when I come back.
The food is great, and the service is excellent. The atmosphere is what you make of it, since it's takeout only. Take it to a local bar or home, and make it your own. Best Indian in town.
My wife and I were visiting Albany for two days. We were tired from driving the first night so we just wanted takeout to bring back to the hotel. Jewel of India came to our rescue. It was a very short walk. The food was as good or better than Indian food you will get elsewhere. Some people have commented that the appearance of the restaurant put them off a bit but I would not worry at all about that. Do yourself a favor and patronize this restaurant if you are in the area. The owner seems to a hardworking type and was grateful for the business. The prices are very reasonable and the portions do not leave you hungry. We loved it!!
Their chili chicken is to die for! Its so filling and i love the taste. Was surprised to see they have cake in the restaurant, had a slice of cheesecake from them the other day and that was delicious too :D very kind staff and fair prices.
Went here on Thanksgiving and the food was amazing! I got the vegetable korma and my boyfriend got the butter chicken. We both loved our dishes. So rich and the veggies/spices were cooked perfectly. Very adorable. My boyfriend has lived internationally and knows good Indian food. π
Iβve ordered twice recently and itβs been hot, fresh and delicious both times. The naan, samosas, and chicken tiki masala are incredibly good, great balance of spices & the portion sizes are large. Very friendly staff. Highly recommend.
