I visited Shalimar of India for lunch, and was blown away by not only the food but the kindness of the staff. I’m a person who doesn’t deal well with spice but LOVES Indian food, and they were able to make a curry that was truly delicious and mild enough for me. As someone who’s been to India- the flavors and styles depend a lot on where in the country you are. This tasted very similar to the curries I enjoyed in Jaipur. Aloo chole and vegetable pakora were both phenomenal. Thanks so much, and I will be back!
Excellent northern Indian food! If you're in Burlington to visit Church Street, don't lokit yourself to the food options there. Just outside of that main shopping district has so many excellent options and this is one of them. Samosa are one of my favorite dishes and the ones here are excellent. The naan and the curry I had were excellent as well. My friends all got one of the lamb curries and commented that they were excellent as well. The prices were fair, the restaurant was clean, and the owners were very friendly and took good care of us. I'd come back here without a doubt whenever I am in the area again.
Ordered and my food was ready within 15 minutes. We got Vegetable Mix Curry, Vegetable Biryani, Papadam and Naan. We are vegan so being able to have great indian food options so close to us is great. The spices were delicious and the food wasn't over-salted which was refreshing. They use quality ingredients including delicious vegetables, excellent curries and flavors, and rice cooked to perfection. The food was very inexpensive and fairly priced. We each got a main and a side and spent about 17 bucks per person. We will be dining here again! Great experience!
Absolutely love this place! They offer a wide variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The portions are generous for both eating in and take out. The owners and employees are friendly and helpful if you are looking for suggestions. They also have a Sunday brunch that is very reasonable priced.
Shalimar of India Burlington, Vermont Limited halal options in Vermont. Shalimar of India being the best desi halal place to visit. Owned by a welcoming Sardar from Punjab India. He gives you a very positive vibes. Everything can be made as per your spice level. They are open to customize and adjust. Menu is broad and prices are affordable. Ambiance is 4/5. Customer service is 5/5 Chicken Tikka BBQ: 5/5 Vegetable Pakora: 4/5 Chicken Curry: 4/5 Naan Bread: 5/5 Tea/Dhodh Patti: 4/5 They do offer sunday all you can eat buffet and daily indian veg/non veg thali which contains curry, rice, bread, dessert, and tea. Target audience is local people and mostly Caucasian but their taste is very much like desi food. Recommend to try if visiting vermont.
Great meal in a simple and friendly environment. I had the Mulligatawny Soup which had lentils, vegetables, and spices. I could detect small bites of ginger which made the taste pop. It was served at a perfect temperature. The Beef Jalfarei, (beef curry cooked with green peppers, tomatoes, and onions), was perfect! It mixed very well with the rice. The Beef Vindaloo Curry, (beef curry cooked with potatoes and very hot spices), could have had a little more heat for my taste, but was good nontheless. The Mango Milkshake was something that I had never tested and was Amazing. Stop here only if you want great food!
Great food -- the best Indian food in town. Might sound insignificant, but they are the only Indian restaurant around (since India House closed) that seasons their white rice with cumin seeds, and that's a big plus in my book. The folks running the place are super nice, the food is great, prices are very reasonable, and you never have to wait too long for your order.
