Absolutely top notch Indian food. Sad it took me 3 years in anchorage before I found this spot. It’s better than any other I’ve tried in anchorage. Momos were delicious. The butter chicken was great. Waiter was very accommodating that I wanted garlic and cheese naan combined. This place is definitely worth it. Believe it-coming from someone who eats way too much Indian food.
popped in for an early dinner and so glad that i did!!! my experience at mandala restaurant was sublime from start to finish. the owner sanjay welcomed us in and explained the menu and various spice levels. i ordered the lamb anchari and my boyfriend ordered the goat tikka masala (and we got garlic naan on the side of course). both dishes absolutely knocked it out of the park and the naan was hot and fresh. already looking forward to my next visit :)
The food was fantastic. Subtle spices combine to give a lasting flavor of the Himalayan range and Northern India. The butter chicken was tender and plentiful while the nan was light and crispy. I'll definitely be back on my next visit to Anchorage. Namaste 🙏
I had the Malai Kofta, and it was outstanding. The owner, Mr. Sanjay, recommended a wonderful hot sauce to include with the dish, and it was both delicious, and very hot. The heat is not for the faint of heart, which is exactly what I asked for. I want to come here again with friends and try out another dish. Thank you Mandala! EDIT: I did come back, and this time, I had an eggplant and tomato curry with onion. I can't remember the name of it at the time. Again, the spices were outstanding, and all the ingredients were fresh. The naan was the best I've had, it was made fresh & piping hot out of the kitchen. I would say that this is my new favorite restaurant in town.
Some of the best food I’ve had in a very long time. Came in on a slow night, had personal service from owner and chef. Everything we had was so flavorful and fresh. The presentation was also beautiful. Definitely coming back.
I have read the reviews and even had this restaurant as one of my “places I’d love to try” list. They did NOT disappoint!! We ordered the Bombay Aloo (medium spice) and Pappadi Chat (medium spice) for starters. The sauce for the Bombay Aloo was so so good! I highly recommend getting the Pappadi Chat, each bite is just an explosion of flavor and all the ingredients you wouldn’t think go together, blended and complimented each other so perfectly! We ordered the Garlic Naan, Butter Chicken and Tikka Masala for our entrees. Garlic Naan was well buttered and had the perfect amount of garlic ratio and soft. Butter Chicken was highly recommend when I was looking at the reviews and it did not disappoint! I got it medium spicy and it was just perfect, the chicken was nice and tender as well. The Tikka Masala was probably the best I have ever had! Chicken was tender and the sauce was creamy and so flavorful. Overall, I am so happy we chose to eat here and excited to go back for dinner to try their Clay Oven items! The chef was friendly and kind, he let us know about the Pappadi Chat and what to expect when we took our first bite. He told us how everything is made to order and how he gets the chicken so tender! My fiancé and I both appreciated it very much since it was our first time and we will both definitely be back and will be bringing our family and friends here!
Best indian food in anchorage. We ordered clay made shrimp & biryanis with butter chicken. All of the food items tasted very good. Definitely meeting south spice level standard (if needed) Shrimp is well cooked unlike many other places and had great flavour. Butter Chicken is the best and must try
