Rote Shaq

I had the chicken tikka masala from Rote Shaq, and it was absolutely delicious! Every bite had a rich, creamy taste that was so comforting. My boyfriend has a nut allergy, and the owner was incredibly accommodating—he even gave him garlic naan on the house, which was a really thoughtful touch. Beyond the food, the hospitality was amazing! The owner made sure we were comfortable and even handed me the remote to watch whatever I wanted on the TV. It truly felt like a welcoming and homey experience!! If you’re looking for delicious, comforting Indian food with warm and friendly service, I highly recommend Rote Shaq!

Delightful little halal restaurant in the heart of downtown. We tried the dosa tacos, chicken Tikka panini sandwich, rice bowl, and the chicken Tikka wrap. Everything was flavorful, had a distinct taste, and was served hot and fresh. The restaurant had ample seating, and the staff is super nice. Keep it up, guys! I'm looking forward to dining here again.

Really tasty Chicken Sandwich. I love how crispy the bread is. The sauces that came with the sandwiches were very delicious! I also really like the fusion twist of dosa tacos. The dosas were thick enough to accommodate some fun flavors. Also appreciate that they provide halal meat!

The food was delicious! The dosa tacos are amazing and I can’t believe no one else is doing it, what a great idea! They were so tasty and the sauces were just a perfect addition to the tacos. We also got a sandwich too but the star of the show was still the tacos. The chai is also really good too! Would definitely come back again!

I am someone who doesn’t often write reviews, but I had to make an exception for Rote Shaq. If you’re craving bold and creative flavors with a blend of Indian spices, then Rote Shaq is the place to be. I am a big foodie and tasted everything on their menu😋. I loved how fresh everything was, especially the dosa tacos—they are a standout🤤! The crispy dosa shells paired with vibrant fillings are so flavorful. Just pair them with their yellow sauce, and it’s awesome. The ambiance is lively without being overwhelming. The service is quick, but the attention to detail remains impressive. Their pizzas and wraps are also top-notch.

The dosa tacos and sandwich were so delicious! Easily the best Indian fusion spot in Austin! Sauces that they add on top are so unique and tasty, and the food was the perfect level of spice. Service was also great and everything was so fresh. Will definitely be back!

Great experience and really great food in the heart of downtown. I love the modern take on indian cuisine. The dosa taco is a must try, along with the paneer tikka pizza. The unique sauce is something I have never tasted, it’s out of the world! Must visit!!
