The food is always delicious, the staff are friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere comfortable and welcoming. Love the new blue decor. We enjoy the variety of dishes on their Sunday buffet. They keep the buffet well stocked, fresh, with hot nan bread. Tried the Mango ice cream today- was light and refreshing. Highly recommend!
A+ 10/10 Experience: Taj Mahal on the East side of Evansville, Indiana never disappoints! I’ve dined here multiple times over the past few years, and this visit was just as fantastic. My family joined me for their first experience, and we all loved the food and the service! We started with two pakora appetizers—chicken and paneer—both crispy, flavorful, and paired with delicious sauces. It's an easy choice for first time visitors since the pakora dishes are bite sized and can be shared across the table with loved ones. Our server offered to assist our first time guests with ordering, but since I had visited so many times, we were ready and ordered chicken korma, lamb and mushrooms, and chicken biryani Hyderabadi (my #1 pick). We enjoyed the naan with onions as well as paneer, but I've had almost all varieties, including the plain naan. They are all served warm and taste fresh. Our server took care to ensure my family's meal was prompt and well-timed, with our three entrees arriving together and served with spoons for easy sharing. My family enjoyed the rich and savory lamb with mushrooms, the aromatic and perfectly spiced Chicken Biryani Hyderabadi, and the creamy, comforting chicken korma. Every dish was absolutely delicious (and yes, I did try each entrée). I plan to return to try the midday buffet. No matter what time you visit, the food and service here are excellent. Highly recommend Taj Mahal in Evansville (East Side) for anyone craving authentic and flavorful Indian cuisine. PS They also offer to-go orders. Was in town for work and was craving some tikka masala! Very glad I came across this place. The service was very friendly and welcoming. I ordered the vegetable samosa and chicken tikka masala, and finished with some gulab jamun on the house!
This was our first time visiting the restaurant. It has a very relaxing atmosphere. Daljit was sweet and helpful with all of our questions. Her hospitality was top notch. We sampled the Chai India tea and the Mango Lassi. Both were delicious. For the main course my husband and I ordered The Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Shahi Khorma, both were very tasty. We also had the garlic naan and Aloo Naan which were yummy. We got to finish with a sampling of the Gulab Jamun (fries cheese balls soaked in a honey syrup). I would recommend these to finish off any meal. We may have just found our favorite restaurant. Looking forward to trying the buffet so we can sample some other dishes. If your looking for a quiet restaurant for a date night, this is it. I only thought to take one picture. Thank you for a great experience Daljit!
The Taj Mahal is a define must eat place in Evansville! This was our first experience with Indian food and it was great! We were greeted as soon as we walked in, we let the hostess guide us in our meal and she made our first Indian cuisine experience one that will bring us back again. She recommended a tasteful variety for the appetizer, entre and dessert. It was a 5 star experience..... thank you!
We absolutely love this restaurant. We're so happy that they have their buffet back every day, except on Mondays, when they have their full menu and offer a variety platter option instead. The staff is very nice, and the food is absolutely wonderful. If we didn't live an hour away we would be there SO much, but it's still our favorite place to go when we're in Evansville.
Amazing food and even better hospitality! We came in around 9:30pm, close to closing time, but the staff welcomed us warmly and never made us feel rushed. The food was absolutely delicious and perfectly spiced, fresh, and full of flavor. To top it off, they even gave us a free dessert, which was such a kind gesture. We truly appreciated the great service and can’t wait to come back!
