Chef’s kiss! I truly enjoyed the extensive and very delicious menu options. The price is just right. The ambiance is warm and inviting. Truly a gem in York, PA. My favored dish is the Samosa Chaat. Spicy or mild, but the spice is the cherry on top! A few pics for display (the menu is more than posted😊). Partake and enjoy!!! (Location is banquet hall at hotel. Truly a hidden gem!)
The food here was delicious! Don’t be fooled by the sketchy looking Inn it is attached to, the authentic dishes will blow you away. The space was beautiful and quiet enough to have a lovely conversation over dinner with my date. I had the palak paneer that came with rice, got a sweet corn soup, veg gobi (cauliflower), and naan bread. Everything was made mild as per my preference and it did not sacrifice the flavor! My date had the lamb with rice and said it was delicious and tender. So many amazing vegetarian and meat options alike. I will definitely be ordering in from here often.
The York area has several options for Indian food now. Spice House enters with traditional dishes and modern twists to separate itself from the others. For appetizers, we had the chili lotus, babycorn chili, and samosa chaat. All three were very good, but everyone enjoyed the spice and unique flavor of the babycorn and chili lotus. It's the first time anyone at the table had lotus, and it was a table favorite. At our table, we had chicken vindaloo, chicken curry, goat curry, lamb roganjosh, and classic chicken tikka masala. Everyone loved everything. If you like heat, don't be afraid to go to a 7 spice level. That was the highest at the table and was a perfect combination of flavor and spice. The naan was a perfrct compliment to the meal. The jalapeno was popular at the table. The other interesting things to try on the next visit are the pizza/pastas and possibly one of the fried rices. The meal ended with shahi gulab jamun, which was the best we ever had. They make the best of their semi awkward location. They are behind a large banquet hall in the very back of an older hotel. There aren't many tables, but the seating is cozy with simple decorations. With Spice House and Bollywood Grill now in the area, there is no need to travel to Harrisburg or Lancaster for incredible Indian food.
This place was amazing. I wish the location was better because it’d increase business. The food was so customizable as far as spice level and they had so many vegetarian vs meat diet options, all prices clearly shown, everything was clean, the service was fast and friendly, and the food was BOMB! Our waitress Selena was very friendly and knowledgeable as well. I’m reccomending this place to all my friends. 10/10 ——we ordered the gunpowder chicken for appetizer, tikka chicken, malai chicken, jasmine rice, papad both fried and baked (which came with teo dipping sauce options), & butter naan
My son and I ate here yesterday. I had the Lucknow Chicken, he had the Biryani. We both ordered it "spicy". The Lucknow was perfectly seasoned, and the spice level was exactly what I wanted. The Biryani was on the extreme end of spicy. The chef did ask us after the meal how we enjoyed our meal, and what we thought of the spice level. They were kind enough to give me a recommendation for the next time we come in. They advised a 6 or 7 out of 10 on their spice scale. I don't know if I'm just weak, or if that's "normal" for those two dishes. Nonetheless the food was great, the prices reasonable, and we finally have another quality Indian restaurant in York. The location is a little... odd. Don't let that stop you from coming!
Delicious and authentic Indian food. The service was great and the food came out very quickly. We had a wonderful family meal. Highly recommended!
