Have a huge craving for Indian food… my previous favorite place recently closed for renovations. I found Dhabewala Indian Shack on Google Maps, what a wonderful experience! Tiny seating area, but oh such intoxicating aromas emanating from the kitchen. The patrons were all busy enjoying their meals. Service was just attentive enough to keep customers happy. The food was very good & the deliciousness I was seeking. Tiny place but wow, what great flavors!!!
The best Indian food in Stamford! For lunch, I ordered from the lunch menu, which includes the vegetable of the day, rice, and Naan. I can't recall which proteins we chose, but both were delicious. We also tried the Chowpatty Pao Bhaji, which was equally tasty. On a cold winter day, this meal provided comfort and warmth. Our waiter was very friendly, offering recommendations and describing menu options. The atmosphere is cozy, clean, adorned with decorations, and comfortable. With plenty of menu options to explore, I look forward to returning to try more dishes. Highly recommended!
Great casusal Dhaba dining experience but delightfully restaurant style flavors. Reasonably priced and great service. We had an attentive sever and had casual conversation with the owner Tarun, who has several other restaurants in the CT MA area. We ordered Chicken Tikka. Great tandoor flavors, smoke and charred but still tender inside. Amritsari fish was lovely with crispy outside and mosit fish inside. Just loved the the byod policy. We paired it with a lovely bourbon. Bhel puri was cruchy and with lovely spices. Main course had comfort makhani daal and butter chicken which had the tangy kick. Garlic naan, laccha parantha was warm and paired well with curries. Definitely recommend for both dine in and take out. Great place to visit when i am back in town from bay area.
My husband and I came to visit a friend and she brought us here for lunch. The staff showed excellent customer service to start with. We ordered the paan lassi, Shrimp bhuna mirchwala, Chicken Punjab the murgh curry and lamb biriyani. Loved the paan lassi, so different. The curries were good, and the biriyani was amazing. The lamb was beautifully cooked to perfection. They brought boondi raita with it. We asked for pickle and they let us pick what kind we wanted :) We asked for chai at the end and that wrapped up our amazing lunch today. Thank you Rabbani for making it amazing for us! Loved the service here and we’ll definitely return!
We are Punjabi, and found the food to be incredible and authentic. Palak Paneer, Punjabi Kadhi, Malai Kofta, and Methi Matar Paneer were all outstanding dishes. I would say this restaurant likely has the best palak paneer I have ever had. Do not miss this gem of a restaurant in Stamford, CT. The chefs have done an amazing job in arranging a diverse menu.
Amazingly authentic and tasty Indian food. It's a small restaurant so seating is limited. We stopped by on a weekend and dined in as well as got a few dishes as take out. Dishes tried and recommended - dahi puri, dum biryani, chicken tikka with garlic naan or tandoori roti. Lunch options are at great prices on weekdays.
Probably the best Indian food in Southern CT. Every single thing is the most authentic Indian food I’ve had in years. Don’t let the small size take away the amazing food that it has to offer.
