Taj Mahal Restaurant & Lounge

We had such an incredible experience at Taj Mahal that we ended up returning later that evening for drinks! During our lunch earlier, everything was perfect—the food was amazing (we ordered an off-the-menu entree) and our server, Veronica, was wonderful. But what really made our evening was the chance to chat with the owner. He was super friendly, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about his restaurant and the food he serves. It made the entire experience feel even more special. We had a great time enjoying drinks and talking about the restaurant’s history and future plans. The service, food, and hospitality were all top-notch, and we can’t wait to come back again. Highly recommend this place for both lunch and a relaxed evening out!

This was our second time at this restaurant, and everything was wonderful! We got the Chicken Makhni extra extra spicy (tandoori chicken with onions and green peppers with masala sauce), Saag Mattar Bhartha Medium Spicy, Plain Basmati Rice, Garlic Naan, Vegetable Samosas, Papadam, Hot Chai Tea, and Perrier. The papadam was good but average. The Vegetable samosas were ok but below average, because they were not crispy enough. The Chicken Makhni was excellent! It was very spicy as requested and by far the best indian dish I have had since moving to Arizona. The basmati rice was pretty good but normal, however you must order it separately, as none comes with the entrees. The Saag Mattar Bhartha (spinach and eggplant vegetarian dish) was good, but my dad wanted it spicier, and we couldn't taste the eggplant. The garlic naan was excellent. The service was excellent and friendly. The ambiance was kind of lacking, because we were the only customers there, as it was 4:30pm, but they offered a window table, which was nice!

Restaurant was very clean and up to date. Employees were extremely welcoming and kind. I loved that the menu was organized, straightforward and easy to read. Other Indian restaurants I have been to, the menu can be a little overwhelming and confusing to find what you are looking for. Great selection of drinks. Chicken tikka masala was delightful and so was the lamb korma. Food is pricey for that amount you get, no left overs, but the food was made very well.

Stopped in for a beer and a snack. I ordered the Onion Bhaji because I was craving onion rings. These were fantastic, and by themselves made my adventure into Scottsdale well-worth the trip. Delicious, and I want to try making these at home! Waris was very welcoming. He recommended an Indian beer. I had never had an Indian beer before and the Taj Mahal lager paired wonderfully with the Onion Bhaji. Great experience and I highly recommend. Also, 👀 this funny bathroom sign.

Absolutely loved my experience at Taj Mahal! The customer service was outstanding—staff were incredibly attentive, friendly, and made us feel truly welcome. The food was equally impressive—flavorful, fresh, and perfectly spiced. Every dish we tried was a hit. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine with top-notch service!

A great find in OLD TOWN SCOTTSDALE. We, just back from long trip in INDIA we’re looking for similar tastes. WE FOUND IT!!! Very nice atmosphere, full bar, take out, and A GREAT CHEF!! VERONICA, our hostess was very attentive and explained all the exotic fare. 01/25

Hidden gem of Scottsdale! The food is too die for! It feels very authentic and made in house. Flavors are bold and complex. The vindaloo filled me up without feeling heavy. Naan was perfect. Veronica and staff were super friendly and kept our drinks filled. It's a very unassuming building tucked into a strip of stores, but the food blows you away.
