Charminar Indian Restaurant & Catering in San Diego

I’ve been abroad in Japan for a couple of months now and have not found an Indian food place that satisfied my cravings. So when I had the opportunity to visit home, I decided to invite all my friends to surprise them at my favorite Indian places and it was chaotic and a lot of fun! (In a way, I flew back from Japan just for this place) Umair was so hospitable and understanding with the chaos in our group. As always, loved the food and the atmosphere and the friendly staff definitely made it TOP NOTCH. I will be back whenever I’m in the area.

This restaurant is an A+ gem! We were visiting San Diego and made sure to check this restaurant off our list. It's a must if you're at all into Indian food. Every single dish we ordered was cooked to perfection. We came in for a late lunch on a weekday, only to find the restaurant completely empty to our surprise and good luck. We were immediately taken care of, food arrived quick. The chicken dum biryani was full of depth and flavor. The Ghee roast chicken was quite spicy yet kept us wanting for more. The hospitality is top notch. The place does maintain the same vibe as a hole in the wall restaurant would offer in suburban Hyderabad. I'm glad this restaurant exists and I was able to experience it.

The vibe is immaculate once you set foot in here. The design of the place is spot on. The service was amazing. The food is the cherry on top. Our first time did not disappoint. The menu has many gluten free and vegetarian options. Will be coming back!

Tried the Paneer Biryani and baby corn 65, and it was excellent—great taste with generous quantity. The flavors were well-balanced, and the paneer was perfectly cooked. However, be prepared for a wait, especially on Friday nights. Worth the visit if you’re craving delicious biryani!

Charminar is hands down my favorite Indian restaurant in San Diego! I’ve introduced so many friends and colleagues to this place because I absolutely love it. I’ve been here multiple times and tried a variety of dishes, and these are my top favorites: Kodi Vepudu, Chicken Majestic, Apollo Fish, Tandoori Chicken, Bezwada Chicken, Butter Chicken, Chicken Ghee Roast, and Chicken 65 Biryani. Every dish is superb, packed with flavor, and consistently well-prepared. I try to visit at least once a month! Their weekend menu keeps changing, which makes each visit even better. One of my favorites was the Chicken Lollipop they had as part of their Thanksgiving special - it was great. On top of that, the staff is always welcoming, and the service is impressively quick. Absolutely love this spot and can’t recommend it enough!

Delicious Indian food!!! Highly recommended. Food is full of flavor and perfect quantity. I gave the food 4 out of five stars purely because some of the dishes were a little too spicy for me. I'm a pansy when it comes to spicy food, FYI. Very modern and classy atmosphere. Service was very good and pleasant.

We visited San Diego from Seattle and dined here on two occasions. This is a nice, family-friendly restaurant with excellent food, service, and ambiance. The rumali roti is impressive, as are the dal and paneer. The chicken appetizers and biryani are both flavorful and well-prepared. Overall, it's a great place to relax and enjoy a delicious meal after a busy day at the beach or SeaWorld!
