Tulsi is a hidden gem in Austin! They serve the absolute best and authentic Maharashtrian cuisine which is quite rare to find in the US. Pick any item on their menu and I guarantee that you’ll not be disappointed. The staff is very friendly and the service is excellent. Mr. Dhanesh goes above and beyond to make your dining experience memorable. Taste, price, ambience and service, Tulsi checks off on all the qualities of a great restaurant! Highly recommended.
The food is definitely spicy but delicious. We ate a samosa before the pictures but also ordered garlic naan, chicken lollipop, and chicken 65. We will be back to order different dishes.
Finally found a Maharashtrian style food place in Texas - although it’s 160 miles away from my house in Houston, it was totally worth the drive! I could only try 10 dishes this first time so I am definitely coming back to try all the items from the menu! Amazing food and great service. A MUST try for anyone visiting Austin (or neighboring cities). We ordered the following and my honest take on each. My Top 3 were — Surmai fry - Maharashtrian / Malwani style preparation and hit the spot — Vada pav - perfect combination of crispiness and spice. The fresh soft pav made it even better — Misal pav - pav is their signature and makes every dish worth it. The farsan being fresh and crispy is such a small detail but can make or break your experience — Thecha paneer tikka - excellent take on traditional paneer tikka using Maharashtrian thecha! — Thalipeeth - amazing taste and great consistency — Shrikand puri - the puris could be better — Sabudana vada - I did not enjoy the taste as they were slightly on the sweetish side but everyone with me enjoyed it — Jhunka Bhakari - the Jhunka was a disappointment and I did not enjoy it’s consistency For such good food, price isn’t important for me.. But I have to mention that 6 adults (with 3 heavy eaters) ate 10+ dishes and the cost was less than $20 per person! That is DEFINITELY a steak!
After being many days in RR, finally got the opportunity to eat Indian food and it was better than expected… authentic Indian food! It was the only restaurant I tried in the area but definitely as my relatives said… Indian food in Austin is one of the best that you can eat in USA. Thanks very much, hope to go there again in the near future and try other dishes as well.
From the moment we stepped into Tulsi, we were treated to an exceptional dining experience. The staff was incredibly attentive, they gave us a separate seating area, which was bigger for 4 people, but still they didn't show any reluctance in making us comfortable there. Staff was knowledge and guided us through the menu with genuine enthusiasm. We are vegetarian, and also don't eat Onion and Garlic. This pose the challenge to restaurants. Service staff went and discussed with Chef about which dishes can be made without Onion and Garlic, and to our pleasant surprise, they said they will customize any dish on the menu. We ordered, Veg Noodle, Samosa Katori Chaat, Punjabi Peneer Makhani, and Marathi special Patwadi Rassa and Bhakhari. Every dish we tried, was top notch on taste, and good quantity(We had to pack and bring home). The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it the perfect place for a special occasion. We can't wait to return for another unforgettable meal!
Great buffet and atmosphere. Highly recommend the Palak Paneer and the goat entrees. Staff was very friendly, Abhi greeted all customers and was excellent at ensuring all tables had filled drinks and service.
This place is amazing ...i really out of my words ...all the food we ordered was delicious and mouthwatering. I went there on my birthday and this restaurant really made my day. Raikar was the waiter who recommended us all their specialty and we also enjoyed everything at there.
