Owner Lubana is a sweetheart. This may be the best Indian restaurant on the East Coast. The food here is beyond what words can explain. The owners pour their hearts out into their cooking. Service is always phenomenal & the staff is very friendly. We had a bunch of dishes like kabab, kabab roll, samosa chaat, French fries, paneer- it was all delicious. Interior is like a Mughal theme and very clean.
EDIT: We were having issues with inaccurate hours on their website, but it looks like they’ve been updated and are back on their usual schedule! Excited to stop by again. :) — Best Indian food we've had in Long Island, no question. Even though the vibe is pretty casual — plastic plates, plastic cutlery — the food is what you come for, and everything we've tried on the menu so far has been a hit. The pav bhaji appetizer is so richly spiced, cozy, and comforting; the chicken rezala is wonderfully tender, tangy, and rich with the perfect sauce for a puri (and we would recommend their puri >> naan). Lamb and chicken basmati is also great, as is their baingan bharta (eggplant dish), though that one was a little sweeter than we expected. I also quite like their lunch special, which, when I went, had a fun variety of foods — a lentil curry, chicken tikka, rice, some kebabs — for $15, which I thought was a solid deal for the amount and variety that was given.
Clay Oven exceeded my expectations in every way! Their Indian cuisine is bursting with flavor, and the prices are incredibly affordable. Despite opting for takeout, I was warmly welcomed by the owners, who treated me with such kindness and hospitality. It's clear that they genuinely care about their customers' experience. I'll definitely be returning for more of their delicious food and wonderful service! Highly recommend!
Such a great little hidden gem of a restaurant. The staff is incredibly nice, especially the lady in charge. Keep in mind that the portions are very big and you might wanna order a few at first. We ended up taking home more than we ate. Everything tasted great.
This place is a hidden little gem of Indian cuisine! We had the ox tail dish and Tawa Keema yesterday and it was the best ever. The mix of spices tickled our taste buds to no end. Oh, and let me mention the Baba Ganoush, which is not what you imagine, but you will love it if you just give it a try! My husband and I enjoyed our lunch very much.
We tried this new place today, it’s very good. The food was delicious, the ambiance very nice, and the lady who served us was very polite and hospitable. Prices are reasonable as well. We definitely will come here again.
After 2 years, still my favorite Indian restaurant by far. Food often served in takeout containers but it's still like going to Gramma's for dinner - if your Gramma grew up in Mumbai. Food is nicely spiced (start with mild or medium, westerners) and always served piping hot. Original review: My new go-to place for Indian food! A home run every visit so far. Looking forward to running through the menu over the next year. Portions are generous. Service is friendly and welcoming. Naan is huge and baked to order. Chai is excellent. Four levels of heat: mild, medium, hot, and Desi. Medium is just fine for this spice lover.
